Escape - CSI #105 - My Minds Eye

Good morning, today I want to show you the layout based on the latest challenge at CSI (Color Story Inspiration) challenge no 105.  It is such a treat to play along with this challenges...partly because there is no pressure...and partly because I love to dig through my stash to find the perfect papers and embellishments to go along with it.  I used photos of Lukas where he is lying on our bed...on Oupa's place, with Oupa's specs reading a book.

Supplies used: Cardstock:  Bazzill, Canson; Patterned papers: My Minds Eye (Stella and Rose); Corner chipboard:  Enmarc, Buttons and stars: Chatterbox; Banner: Sassafrass Lass; Title and telescope:  Silhouette Cameo; Other:  PanPastels, Circle stencil, Shimmerz Texturez (Patina)

Some close ups:
Journalling in my awful handwriting.

I backed the circle photo on cardstock and a My Minds Eye diecut.

I made my background using PanPastels in three colours: Phthalo Blue, Yellow Ochre, and Chromium Oxide Green.  I first set the pastels with artists fixative and then stencilled the texturez through the stencil...I am not happy with the result....I didn't know when to stop.  To make it less busy I decided on cutting the telescope with the Silhouette Cameo.

Here is the case file, and Em Stafrace sketch:

I was blessed this week to be able to experience another of my grandchildren's milestones. On Wednesday morning  Kobus and Lache picked me up so that I can photograph Leane's first day at school.

At the school's entrance.

So full of confidence
Kobus and Leane with Juffrou Poppie.  Many years ago she was Kobus' teacher.

With her mommy Lache.

Today I am so thankful for:

#49 ~ Wednesdays and time to spend the way I love.

#50 ~ Being "there" on Leane's first school day.

#51 ~ The blessing of a close relationship with my children and grandchildren.

#52 ~ Having these little one's so much part of my life

#53 ~ Colourful surprises in the garden.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog...I appreciate you.

xoxo

  14. Love you layout ... I certainly don't think that the background is too much ... It fits perfectly with the subject. Love the addition of the telescope. Although you may think your handwriting is awful your kids and grandkids will appreciate that you took the time to write the journaling for the. I am so happy to have a recipe hand written by my Aunt and also a thing or two with my Gran's handwriting.

I am so happy that you were there for Leane's first day of school ~ That is super special and I am amazed that Kobus' teacher is still there. It is obviously her calling and not just a job. Funny enough a couple of my teacher from 33 years ago are still at my old high school.
